I have been working for 7 years as a fitness instructor for 24HR Fitness, teaching primarily at the #1 club in the leading fitness company in America, just where I like to be!  Over that period of time, I have taught over 1500 classes with an average of 35 students per class. My classes are typically full and I give each one my 100% effort!!!

Small Business Mentor for Mercy Corps

For 3 years, I volunteered with the Portland based Mercy Corps with their local program.  Their goal was to encourage entrepreneurship with the immigrant and refugee community in Portland.  My task was to assist them formulating their business ideas into reality by creating business plans

Steering Committee for Horizon Christian Schools

I was able to be part of the Steering committee for the Horizon Christian Schools to build a new high school, the first new Christian high school in the Portland in over 25 years.

Development of Silverton Springs Farm

The transformation of 80 acres purchased in 2002 into the Silverton Springs Farm has been a rewarding project.  Originally this farm had been abandoned by its previous owner who had passed away so there was a substantial amount of work needed to revive this land.  My list of accomplished tasks include:

bulletClearing of 10 acres for a homesite and garage
bulletLogging of 15 acres
bulletInstallation of garage in 2003
bulletInstallation of a homesite in 2005
bulletBringing electricity to the site
bulletHaving a well dug
bulletPlanting of 32,000 2 yr old trees for nursery stock

The farm is located southeast of Silverton in the Silverton Hills area.  It is located at 1500 ft elevation on a private road named Brenneman Road.  It is very peaceful and relaxing.  It has been rewarding to experience the life of a farmer on a part time basis

5Ks/10Ks/Marathons and Triathlons

I was able to get back into shape after leaving the corporate life and began to participate in a number of races.  Starting at 5K races, I was able to move up to 10Ks quickly.  In 2001, I was able to participate in the Kona Marathon which is held on the same course as the world famous Kona Ironman!

Disaster Relief Trip to Guam

In 1997, I went on a 2 week disaster relief mission trip sponsored by the Promise Keepers organization to Guam after Super Typhoon Paka hit at Christmas time.  It has the highest wind speeds ever recorded on earth at 237 MPH.  During this time, we helped numerous members of the military families as well as the restoration of the the Marianas Baptist Church.  It was difficult work as Paka has taken down most of the infrastructure of electricity, water and communications.  We were able to get the church back to working condition so they could hold services by the time we had left.  At the same time, I made a number of friends and felt the satisfaction of helping out people in need.

Disaster Relief Trip for Hurricane Katrina

One year after the disaster of Hurricane Katrina, our family went down along with 30 other members of our church, Rolling Hills Community church in Tualatin Oregon to help with the rebuilding.  Our group was affiliated with a coordination firm called Forward Edge which guided the volunteers on a ongoing basis.  We stayed at a Baptist Church in Moss Point Mississippi adjacent to the town of Pascagoula MS.  It was on the east edge of the storm so the area received a large amt of wind and storm surge damage.

Real Estate Investments:

Knox County Nebraska

I purchased a 160 tract of prime farmland in Knox County Nebraska for investment purposes.  It was rented to other farmers who planted corn or soybeans on it.  It was irrigated with a center pivot system
